September high

13 September 2009, 23:07

Gosh. Too busy to blog! Is September the high season for geek goings-on? I kinda hope so.

  • I was elected to the LUV ctte. Mua ha ha. Oh crud. Forgot to write evil plans!
  • Oh, I went to Wikimania! Awesome as ever.
  • Came back and suffered regular post-Wikimania lull. Regular life is such a terrible let-down at times. The days immediately following Wikimania, specifically.
  • This weekend was BarCamp! Another great venue. Kudos to Ben, Kathy, Donna & the rest of the organising team. I gave a lightning talk about the Wikimedia strategic planning process:

  • (I also discovered how to do custom animations in Powerpoint/OpenOffice. Don’t laugh.)
  • Unfortunately this meant discovering that Slideshare does not support custom animations. This is deeply saddening as it is otherwise much preferable to Authorstream, as above.
  • MXUG is this week. Here’s this month’s line-up. Come and learn about random interesting things! Serendipity++.
  • Oh and I’ve been organising the talks for Software Freedom Day, which is this Saturday at Chadstone Shopping Centre. Yes really.

The code in my head waiting to be written is getting antsy… looking forward to a quieter October.
